After flying to top finishes at the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals, the Hens returned to the nest for the annual Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) Cross Country Invite on Saturday, Oct. 20. The men’s team placed first in the 8K and the women’s team placed second in the 6K behind rivals Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS).

Sagehens men’s water polo continues strong SCIAC season with win over La Verne
The Hens men’s water polo team took to the pool in a back-and-forth SCIAC matchup against La Verne on Wednesday, Oct. 23, defeating the Leopards 17-2 after 32 minutes of close play. Entering the game having won four of their last five games, Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) men’s water polo came into the game prepared.
P-P water polo comes up short against nationally ranked UC Irvine
The Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) men’s water polo team lost 22-14 in a hard-fought battle to the UC Irvine Anteaters in the annual Gary Troyer Tournament on Oct. 5 at Haldeman Pool. The Anteaters took the lead early, but the Hens refused to give up.
Sagehens beat the heat in intense 2-0 Sixth Street Rivalry triumph
The Sagehens continued their dominance on Oct. 5 with a 2-0 win over the Athenas. The women’s soccer team kept their 10 game winning streak over the Athenas alive for yet another Sixth-Street beatdown. Ella Endo PO ’25 and Hannah Hong PO ’26 led the hens in scoring with a goal apiece in the biggest rivalry game of their season.

P-P Sagehens volleyball gave Occidental a thorough pecking on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in a dominant 3-0 victory. P-P swept the Tigers, led by stand-out performances from a number of athletes.

Some might say that the best part of the Claremont consortium is making friends across the five schools. Wrong. It’s saying goodbye to these friends once a semester and showing up to the biggest athletic event of the year: Rivalry Weekend. Back to the nest: Sagehen alumni return to compete in men’s water polo friendly
Old hens had new tricks to bring back to the coop during the annual Pomona-Pitzer men’s water polo alumni game on Sept. 21 at Haldeman Pool. Many alumni from the 2021 NCAA DIII championship-winning team returned to the pool to show the youngsters how it’s done.

Any good team needs a strong defense and Patricia DePalma PO ‘27 is the backbone of the Sagehens’ shutout-quality defense this year. The goalkeeper of the nest is on fire this season with 17 saves and six shutouts in eight games. She is looking forward to the team’s growth as the season progresses.
