Sagehens men’s water polo stuns the Stags, mounts 10-9 comeback victory
In the final match of Sixth Street rivalry week, the Sagehens men’s water polo team rallied from behind to complete a 10-9 victory over the Stags. Hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) at Axelrod Aquatics Center, Wednesday’s matchup featured the first- and third-ranked teams nationally, with the “underdog” Sagehens taking the victory against the No. 1 seeded Stags.

Stags stun Sagehens, sweeping Sixth Street baseball
The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) baseball team delivered a rout to rivals Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) through April 13 and 14, sweeping the series 3-0 to claim the first Sixth Street matchup of the season. CMS got off to a hot start in game one on Friday, culminating in a 17-4 mercy rule win after 7 innings.
P-P women’s lacrosse takes late flight, rallying to claim 15th straight over CMS 10-8
On Saturday, March 7, the Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) women’s lacrosse teams met in a game that saw the Sagehens clinch their 15th straight Sixth Street Rivalry win. The Sagehens rallied from a late third-quarter deficit to score four straight in the 10-8 victory. Shelby Stanton PO ’26 was named SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts.

Four 5C athletes headline preseason lacrosse All-Americans
Four 5C Lacrosse players were recently named preseason All-Americans. Julia Ryan CM ‘27 of CMC was joined by River Buechner PO ‘26, Shelby Stanton PO ‘26 and Taylor Glanville PZ ‘26 of P-P. The four sat down for interviews to discuss the hard work and winners’’ mindsets that led to this honor.
Jack Gold and Alex Henderson slug their way to All-American status
D3Baseball.com named both Jack Gold PO ’27 and Alex Henderson CM ’27 to its preseason All-American Team. The two stars helped lead their respective teams to their NCAA Regional tournaments last year, with Henderson and the Stags reaching the NCAA Super Regionals. For the junior duo, the inevitable failure of baseball brings the charm.
Behind the scenes: The Pomona-Pitzer student athletic trainers powering Sagehen football forward
Behind the 90-person Pomona-Pitzer football team, which practices daily and competes weekly, are the student athletic training staff who work behind the scenes to ensure the season runs smoothly for the players. The full-time football athletic trainer (AT), Lane Fishburn, currently employs three student ATs to help her with operations.
