TSL Advertisement Acceptance Policy

As one of the best ways to reach students at the Claremont Colleges, TSL encourages businesses to advertise with us both online and in print. However, we reserve the right not to run an advertisement — a decision that has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

Generally, we will not run ads that:

  • Discriminate against a group or individuals on the basis of sex, race, age, etc.
  • Contain false or misleading information
  • Contain illegal and/or inappropriate content
  • Contain profanity

These are general guidelines, and ads can still be rejected by TSL even if they don’t fit into one of the aforementioned categories, or accepted if they do.

TSL evaluates ads on a case-by-case basis and doesn’t have to publish an ad just because something similar was published in the past. The editorial board — the editor-in-chief and the two managing editors — changes every semester, which can result in standards significantly shifting from year to year.
