The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) baseball team delivered a rout to rivals Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) through April 13 and 14, sweeping the series 3-0 to claim the first Sixth Street matchup of the season. CMS got off to a hot start in game one on Friday, culminating in a 17-4 mercy rule win after 7 innings.
CMS men’s tennis sweeps Cal Lutheran, remains nation’s best
CMS Men’s Tennis is continuing their dominant run in SCIAC and Division III tennis as a whole by sweeping Cal Lutheran University 7-0, dropping only one set en route to the shutout victory. Advik Mareedu, HM ’26 explained that their success stems from a strong sense of mutual commitment towards accountability within the team.
“We’re pretty comfortable with letting each other know when someone’s out of place, or someone’s not sticking to that standard,” Mareedu said. “We’ve been trying to make a better effort of holding others accountable if they’re slacking off.”
Sagehen swimmers bring hardware back to nest: Kyle Huang and Valerie Mello awarded SCIAC Athlete of the Year
Valerie Mello PZ ’25 and Kyle Huang PO ’27 lit up the scoreboards this year for Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) Swim and Dive, contributing to a No. 1 finish for the women and No. 2 finish for the men at the SCIAC Championships in February. Both Mello and Huang’s performances merited SCIAC Swim and Dive Athlete of the Year honors.
Sagehens lacrosse steals 12th straight rivalry victory from Athenas in overtime nail biter
The Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) Sagehens flocked to Merritt field on Wednesday, March 5, for a rainy rivalry game against the Athenas, taking a 12 to 11 overtime victory thanks to Chloe Denhart PO ’27 and a persistent defensive performance.
Trophies all around: CMS and P-P swim into nationals as champions
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) and Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) swam into the playoffs, both squads leaving the SCIAC championships with a trophy. The CMS men’s team took home first place for the sixth consecutive season, and the women got second. The P-P women took home the first-place trophy for the second year in a row, while the men took home second. Both teams had standout individual performances, propelling them both into nationals.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) men’s basketball took a 90-77 victory over the Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) Sagehens on Saturday, Feb. 15, in a Sixth Street rematch at a rowdy Roberts Pavilion. Neil Owens CG ’25 hit seven three-pointers to add to his 31-point night and reach over 1,000 career points.
