Despite a mostly successful season, the Sagehens softball team continued their 5-game losing streak with a loss against Chapman University on Friday, April 4. Regardless of the game outcome, Coach JoAnne Ferguson emphasized the strength of this year’s unit after the game.

Sagehens edge out Banana Slugs to come out victorious in first round of NCAA tournament
On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) women’s soccer team won a thriller against UC Santa Cruz in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament. Tied after 110 minutes of regular play, perfect penalties from Maxine Davey PO ’25, Ella Endo PO ’25, Taylor Marshall PZ ’26, Spencer Deutz PZ ’25 and Vivian Rojas Collins PO ’27 were enough for the Sagehens to prevail.
P-P cross country shows out at home invitational after pre-nationals win
After flying to top finishes at the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals, the Hens returned to the nest for the annual Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) Cross Country Invite on Saturday, Oct. 20. The men’s team placed first in the 8K and the women’s team placed second in the 6K behind rivals Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS).
Sagehens men’s water polo continues strong SCIAC season with win over La Verne
The Hens men’s water polo team took to the pool in a back-and-forth SCIAC matchup against La Verne on Wednesday, Oct. 23, defeating the Leopards 17-2 after 32 minutes of close play. Entering the game having won four of their last five games, Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) men’s water polo came into the game prepared.

Under the bright lights of Merritt Field on Saturday, Oct. 5, Stags and Sagehens football battled it out in a closely contested matchup for the Sixth Street title, with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) ultimately prevailing in a 20-14 win.

The Sagehens continued their dominance on Oct. 5 with a 2-0 win over the Athenas. The women’s soccer team kept their 10 game winning streak over the Athenas alive for yet another Sixth-Street beatdown. Ella Endo PO ’25 and Hannah Hong PO ’26 led the hens in scoring with a goal apiece in the biggest rivalry game of their season.

Tensions were high at Pritzlaff Field on Saturday, Oct. 5 when Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) faced off against Pomona Pitzer (P-P) men’s soccer. Midfielder Rafael Otero CM ’25 put the Stags on the board with a penalty kick, giving CMS the 1-0 Sixth Street win over the Sagehens.

P-P Sagehens volleyball gave Occidental a thorough pecking on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in a dominant 3-0 victory. P-P swept the Tigers, led by stand-out performances from a number of athletes.

Nocturnal Sagehens take to the pool at midnight for season-opening swim
The pool was open late on Sunday, Sept. 8, as the Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) swim and dive team lined up for their annual midnight swim. Each year, the team meets to kick off the season with speeches from the seniors on the team before a 50-yard swim.
