After not playing and battling injuries for much of his first season, Berry turned on the heat and has now become a pillar of a strong Sagehen lineup.

On Saturday, Feb. 8, the Sagehens, currently eighth in Division III rankings, declawed the No. 10 East Texas Baptist University Tigers 2-1 on Alumni Field to open their season. After a rainout on Friday afternoon, the Sagehens took the field behind pitchers Max Brunngraber PZ ’27 and Will Polishuk PO ’28 for their first collegiate starts.

Sagehens’ baseball dominated the Stags 14-1 in the sixth street series opener on Friday, March 1 at Alumni field. Jake Hilton PO ’25 contained Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) with eight strikeouts while the bats got working in the bottom of each inning, getting the Hens on base early and often.

112 years ago, the Boston Red Sox faced off against Pomona College. Today they are working together to change the perception of DIII baseball

Take a trip down memory lane and hear the echo of “Sweeeet Caaroline, Bom, Bom, Bom” as you do. In 1911, the Boston Red Sox took a trip to Claremont and faced the Pomona Baseball team at Alumni Field. Over a century later, the two organizations have crossed paths once again with three Sagehen alumni since 2009 being drafted by the Sox and even more joining their front office. Together, they are aligning to bring P-P and Division III athletics to the forefront of pro ball.
