On a typical day at the 5Cs one is almost always bound to run into a student wearing an eye-catching outfit. From oversized retro t-shirts to vintage camis or mini dresses, many students have something in common when it comes to their fashion: a commitment to shopping sustainably and reusing second-hand clothing. This past Sunday, the 5C fashion club THREAD5 partnered with Pitzer Campus Life to host the Mounds Bazaar, a cross-campus-wide sale on the Pitzer College Mounds.

Luxury shoe designer Stuart Weitzman shares advice on life and career goals at Pomona College

On Nov. 2, luxury shoe designer Stuart Weitzman spoke to a crowded Rose Hills Theater at Pomona College. Weitzman offered sound advice while recalling the journey of his 60-year shoe-making journey. Starting his career by designing shoes for his father’s company in the early 1960s, Weitzman received his big break when singer Aretha Franklin thanked him for making her one-of-a-kind heels at the 1983 American Music Awards.

Claremont Heritage exhibits “Stories of the East and West Barrios”

Claremont Heritage, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the city’s history, held a screening and panel discussion for the documentary “Stories of the East and West Barrios.” The documentary sheds light on the history of Claremont barrio communities. It described factors contributing to insecurity, such as the Claremont Colleges’ dependence on the barrio community labor force.

Jean Chen Ho reveals behind the scenes work of her bestselling book, ‘Fiona and Jane’

New York’s bestselling author of the novel “Fiona and Jane,” Jean Chen Ho has made a name for herself in the literature community and has been continuously featured in such publications as The New York Times, The Cut, LA Times and other renowned papers. Ho was this week’s guest speaker at the Scripps College @Noon, an interactive series that brings together the Scripps community as well as the consortium to engage with scholars, writers, activists and artists to learn and be inspired.

‘Traditions that Anchor You,’ Pomona Student Union share their stories

Pomona Student Union (PSU), through their new series “Story Hour” which took place on March 23rd, aimed to foster a culture of active citizenship and empathic dialogue across all 5C students. Co-presidents of PSU, David Ruiz PO’24 and Aditya Bhalla PO’23 along with board member Trisha Gongalore PO’25 put together this series in hopes to foster dialogue on current and critical issues going on in the world, in academia, or in the 5C community, while establishing a forum for people to talk about current events and learn.
