Antlers and spears, cardinal and gold, Stags and Athenas – this year’s CMSPYs were a huge success. The annual CMS Athletics awards ceremony hosted by the student athlete advisory committee (SAAC) was held last week in Roberts Pavilion. With 11 total awards, along with a trivia game and penalty of jokes, the night left athletes full of more than just the catered tacos, swelled with pride for CMS sports and excited for the seasons to come.

Down to six football teams, the SCIAC is forced to change format
Could Sixth Street go back to back? After the Sagehens and the Stags split the SCIAC title in 2022, the implementation of a conference championship game in 2023 has both teams ready for an undisputed Claremont champion. Next year, CMS and P-P will compete in the new format for SCIAC football. They will be in different pods composed of three SCIAC teams each and both CMS and P-P are hopeful of finishing on top of their respective groups to face each other in the championship game for the chance, once again, to compete with their sixth-street rivals for a bid to the NCAA DIII playoffs.
Pomona College suspends 5C Ski & Snowboard Club
On March 28 students and alumni on the emailing list for the 5C Ski & Snowboard Club received an email notifying them that Pomona College administration had placed the club under suspension until Spring of 2024.

Is it enemies to lovers? Probably not. But maybe it could be rivals, turned quasi-teammates. From SCIACs to NCAAs all in one month, both CMS and P-P made a splash at nationals and fostered a new sense of community amongst all 5Cs in the process.
112 years ago, the Boston Red Sox faced off against Pomona College. Today they are working together to change the perception of DIII baseball
Take a trip down memory lane and hear the echo of “Sweeeet Caaroline, Bom, Bom, Bom” as you do. In 1911, the Boston Red Sox took a trip to Claremont and faced the Pomona Baseball team at Alumni Field. Over a century later, the two organizations have crossed paths once again with three Sagehen alumni since 2009 being drafted by the Sox and even more joining their front office. Together, they are aligning to bring P-P and Division III athletics to the forefront of pro ball.
