On Saturday, April 18, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) women’s water polo dethroned Pomona-Pitzer’s 20-year reign as SCIAC Champions. Despite P-P’s wins on Feb 25 and April 8, CMS cements its historic season in triumph after beating P-P for the first time in 20 years in January and holding strong for a 14-10 win in this SCIAC Championship game.

No one flies down the slopes like the 5Cs, ski team takes on Nationals
Over spring break, the 5C Ski and Snowboard Team brought home two trophies from the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard National Championships that took place at Lake Placid, New York. On March 19, the women’s team placed first in slopestyle, and on March 21, they earned third overall for freeski.

On Wednesday, Feb. 25th, Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) women’s water polo battled in the most recent iteration of the Sixth Street Rivalry. CMS’s win in the prior matchup marked their first in 14 years over the Sagehens.
Stags basketball shoots their shot, wins Valentine’s Day Sixth Street showdown
Valentine’s Day is for lovers, but in Claremont, the CMS Stags defeated the P-P Sagehens in a heated rivalry, topping them 76-62. Despite a strong grasp in the first half, the Sagehens were ultimately unable to deny the Stags a Sixth Street title and a seat at the top of SCIAC. Guard Brady Karich CM ’28 attributed the win to the team’s ability to keep its focus on the game at hand.
Running towards hope: Kirk Lord’s journey with PANDAS
Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) track and field runner Kirk Lord PZ ’28 was adorned with the CALHope Courage Award on Jan. 12, and received $1,000 to his nonprofit National PANDAS/PANS Youth Alliance. Lord, diagnosed with PANDAS in the second grade, will use the publicity and funding to continue his advocacy work surrounding the autoimmune disease.
