On Sept. 7 and 8, the Stags and Sagehens men’s water polo teams left the comfort of Claremont to face Division I foes at UC San Diego’s Triton Invitational. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ (CMS) 12-11 win against UC Merced allowed the newest players to showcase their abilities before the start of the regular season.

Stags baseball sent the Redland Bulldogs to the pound with a 9-6 morning win and a 13-3 mercy rule victory in the afternoon on Saturday, April 13. After falling behind in game one of their series Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) came back in a big way thanks to a strong performance on the mound from Aaron Herst CM ’26 and big hits up and down the lineup.

CMS stags basketball trample over the Sagehens’ hope of a postseason berth in a packed one shot game. The Stags earned a second half comeback by executing their game with great exigence and energy, and rode the momentum to a SCIAC league title, defeating California Lutheran in finals.
“We just studied the game plan and stayed aggressive and we just tried to attack them…we just tried to turn that up in the 2nd half and just continuing to take it play by play, we knew it was going to be a grind out game.” said Caelan Jones CGU ‘25.

Stags tennis trampled Lewis and Clark and Brandeis in singles and doubles on Sunday, Feb. 18 in a double-header at home. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) is looking for a win at nationals after falling short last season, and their preseason prowess is a promising start to that goal.
Stags make Panthers look like house cats as CMS men’s basketball team rushes Chapman to continue dominant season
The Stags tamed the Panthers at Roberts in a tight game on Saturday, Feb. 3 with a final score of 82-79, bringing their 2023 dominance into the new year. So far CMS has only dropped one game after the break and now has a conference record of 11-2.
CMS looks toward SCIAC championship after a record setting OIDFE meet
A Sixth-street classic to start the season! The Stags and Athenas raced to defend last season’s SCIAC titles at OIDFE, their home opener on Saturday, Jan. 27. “I think we need to adjust and get used to the man-up man-down scenarios and perfect our zone defense,” Audrey Jacklyn PZ ‘27 said. “I think UCLA was able to crack our zone a little and seal pretty well on cuts.”

The Stags faced off against the Sagehens last weekend in a sixth street rivalry contest with major SCIAC championship implications. After jumping out to an early 14-0 lead, the Stags staved off a Hen’s comeback to secure the victory.
