To the dismay of students and Claremont locals alike, the neon sign advertising Laemmle’s Claremont 5 may not glow much longer. The theater is likely to shut its doors sometime this year after the sale of its property to Winfund Investment LLC is finalized.
5C students are flocking to Laemmle Theatre in the Claremont Village now that it’s reopened after over a year closed due to COVID-19.
The Claremont 5 has been closed since March 2020, but Laemmle Theaters launched a Virtual Cinema that allows patrons to stream films through third-party services and support the business from home.
California’s historic Laemmle movie theatre chain, which operates the Laemmle Claremont 5 theatre, is no longer for sale.
