Ryan Long PO ’21 recently pitched in his second World Baseball Classic (WBC) for Great Britain, and completed his fourth full season in Minor League Baseball last fall. From striking out MLB all-stars like Randy Arozarena to becoming the third-ever P-P alumnus to reach the Triple-A level, Long shared a conversation with TSL about his time at the WBC and the Baltimore Orioles Organization.

Back on deck: CMS generations collide at the 2025 alumni swim meet
Every year, at the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) alumni swim meet, all generations of swim and dive’s alumni flew in from all corners of the country for a chance to catch up with old teammates and meet the next generation of Stags and Athenas. Former breaststroker Rachel Wander HM ’22 was one such alumnus, and this year’s rendition marked her fourth year returning to her alma mater for the meet.

Old hens had new tricks to bring back to the coop during the annual Pomona-Pitzer men’s water polo alumni game on Sept. 21 at Haldeman Pool. Many alumni from the 2021 NCAA DIII championship-winning team returned to the pool to show the youngsters how it’s done.

5C Track and Field alumni enter in a different type of rat race at the olympic marathon trials; Jesse Joseph HM ‘17, Sara Passani CMC ‘15 and Maya Weigel PO ‘17 qualified for the olympic trials and race for an opportunity to represent the nation in the olympic marathon.
“I took a step away from competitive running for a few years as I settled into post grad life and was working an incredibly demanding job,” said Passani to CMS distance in the days leading up to the race. “I knew for a few years that my goal was to qualify for the Olympic trials in the marathon and in my first marathon back from taking time away, I did just that.”
