A close game through all four quarters, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) swam away with a score of 8-7.

Rat Race on a whole other level; after leaving CMS and PP track three athletes compete for spots on Olympic Marathon team

5C Track and Field alumni enter in a different type of rat race at the olympic marathon trials; Jesse Joseph HM ‘17, Sara Passani CMC ‘15 and Maya Weigel PO ‘17 qualified for the olympic trials and race for an opportunity to represent the nation in the olympic marathon.

“I took a step away from competitive running for a few years as I settled into post grad life and was working an incredibly demanding job,” said Passani to CMS distance in the days leading up to the race. “I knew for a few years that my goal was to qualify for the Olympic trials in the marathon and in my first marathon back from taking time away, I did just that.”

The Stags and Athenas raced to defend last season’s SCIAC titles at OIDFE, their home opener on Saturday, Jan. 27. “I think we need to adjust and get used to the man-up man-down scenarios and perfect our zone defense,” Audrey Jacklyn PZ ‘27 said. “I think UCLA was able to crack our zone a little and seal pretty well on cuts.”
