The Pomona-Pitzer softball team (11-2-1, 6-2 SCIAC) went undefeated last week, winning both sides of a home doubleheader against Hiram (1-8-1) 8-1 and 6-3 March 8, before beating Redlands (6-12, 2-6 SCIAC) 13-5 and 6-5 on the road last Saturday. Kristen Hong PZ ’19 showed out in the decisive wins over Hiram, going 4-5 with four RBIs and a run on the day.

After getting dominated in game one, Redlands pulled it together in game two, coming back from a 4-0 deficit to take a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth. However, after an RBI single from Olivia Campion PZ ’20 sent the game to extras, Liz Rodarte PZ ’19 came in to close it out, and shut out the Bulldogs for the final three innings. P-P picked up the win on an RBI single by Megan Otsuka PZ ’22 following a triple from Izzy Deatherage PO ’20 in the top of the ninth. Rodarte pitched 10 innings and allowed just one run in the two games.
