As artists entered the main stage at Coachella in Indio, California, students at the 5Cs were celebrating music festivals of their own. Pomona’s Nochella and Pitzer’s Kohoutek made their annual return on April 12 and 19, respectively.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, comedians Jeff Wright and Joey Avery performed stand-up sets at Garrison Theater as a part of Scripps Presents’ “Laughing Matters” series. Wright, a writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers, and Avery, a comedy club headliner and podcast host, set out to entertain students and community members alike with an hour of dynamic material.

The 33rd Annual Ussachevsky Memorial Festival of Electroacoustic Music took place at Pomona College from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1. Between performances at the Skyspace, a concert at Thatcher Music Hall and a lecture from featured composer Elainie Lillios, members of the Claremont community experienced the unconventional music and undeniable talent on display throughout the weekend.
