The CMS men’s soccer team beat Occidental 2-0 in the SCIAC semifinal game Wednesday night, getting the Stags within one win of a conference title.
The Stag soccer team continued to cruise through conference play, dispatching La Verne 3-1 on Oct. 19 and Whittier 2-1 on Wednesday.
Based on the score at halftime Saturday, you wouldn’t have known the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (9-2-1, 6-0-1 SCIAC) and Pomona-Pitzer (3-7-2, 2-4-1 SCIAC) men’s soccer teams had been duking it for 45 minutes. The score was still 0-0.
The CMS men’s soccer squad (8-2-1, 5-0-1 SCIAC) featured five different goal-scorers in a 5-0 road victory over La Verne on Saturday. Ethan Tyng CM ’22 netted his sixth goal of the season, and the Stags came away with a 13-4 lead in shots on the day.
The Stags (6-2, 3-0 SCIAC) went up against Occidental on Saturday in what appeared would end as a 1-1 tie, but late goals by Adam Singer CM ’20 and Jake Allmon CM ’23 in the second half sealed the game for the Stags.
Though they’re a regular season juggernaut, postseason luck has been nothing short of nightmarish for the Sagehen women’s soccer team (7-0-1, 3-0 SCIAC) in recent years.
