Hundreds of 7C students call for end to Gaza siege, demand Pomona financial disclosure, divestment from Israeli government

This Wednesday, over 350 Claremont Colleges students walked out of classes to demand that the 7Cs divest from companies and manufacturers that support the Israeli government, citing the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) movement. The demonstration and delegation effort was part of a nationwide student walkout.

Exploring the nexus of oppression: WorldWe Youth 5C unravels the complexities of the sex trade

WorldWe Youth 5C is the youth branch of a broader national anti-sex trafficking and sex trade abolition organization World Without Exploitation. Club leaders hosted their second Sex Trade 101 semi-interactive presentation and conversation at Motley Coffeehouse on October 3rd at 7pm.

Through this event, presenters seeked to examine the multifaceted dynamics and origins of the commercial sex trade and the dimensions of social factors driving demand and overrepresentation within the prostitution system.

Future Under Fire brings reworked fashion designs and sustainability to the 5Cs

Last year, four Pitzer students were inspired by their closets of unworn clothes and a shared vision of sustainability to start a club focused on reworking garments. After hours of work over the summer, the group was ready to launch their first collection of reworked clothing designs and the label behind it, Future Under Fire, at the start of this school year.

The founders of Future Under Fire say that reworked clothing is just the beginning plan to develop a network of creatives across the Claremont Colleges and beyond.
