P-P Basketball Defeats Rivals CMS 70-56

The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens beat arch rivals CMS 70-56 Saturday night behind a huge second half. Scoring 47 points in the second frame, the Sagehens were able to overcome letting a sizable first half advantage slip away. Guard play was the difference in the game, as David Liss PO ’10 and Adam Chaimowitz PO ’10 both scored in double figures while holding the CMS guards to a 5-24 combined performance.

The victory was vital for the Sagehens, as they needed to win to keep pace with Cal Lutheran for the all important fourth place in SCIAC. A vital home game looms for the Sagehens this Tuesday against second place Occidental. A victory would assure them a spot in the SCIAC tournament, while a loss would almost certainly mean missing out.
