The Sagehen softball team (29-10-1, 21-7 SCIAC) split a pair of doubleheaders last week, recording dramatically different results in each. On Friday, P-P beat Cal Lutheran (12-28, 6-22 SCIAC) 11-1 in the first game before losing 7-6 in the second. The next day the team traveled to La Verne (17-23, 13-15 SCIAC), where they won 1-0 before losing 10-2.

P-P blew out CalLu in its first game of the Senior Day doubleheader. Liz Rodarte PZ ’19 shut down the Regals on the mound, striking out eight and allowing one run and two hits in five innings before the mercy rule was invoked. Izzy Deatherage PO ’20 went 2-3 with a home run and four RBIs. The Sagehens remained in control early in the second game, going ahead 5-1 before giving up six runs in the third and fourth innings.

Rodarte came out on top Saturday in a pitching duel against La Verne’s Katherine Navarro in the first game, striking out seven and holding the Leopards scoreless, while also delivering the game’s only RBI on a single in the top of the third.
