
The No. 8 Sagehen women’s tennis team (4-2, 2-0 SCIAC) finished third at the ITA Indoor National Championship in Nashville, Tennessee over the weekend. After beating No. 11 Carnegie Mellon (6-2) 5-4, P-P lost 9-0 to No. 2 Emory (6-0) in the semifinals, but bounced back with a 5-4 win over No. 10 University of Chicago (6-2) in the third-place match.
After losing all three doubles matches to Carnegie Mellon, P-P came back to tie the match 4-4 heading into the final match: No. 2 singles. Marya Lyven PO ’22 dropped the first set 7-5, but saved six match points in the second set and won 7-6 before winning the third set 6-1 to send the Sagehens to the semis.
