The Pomona-Pitzer women’s basketball team (17-5, 11-2 SCIAC) beat Chapman 90-83 in an away game Saturday to clinch a spot in the postseason SCIAC tournament for the first time since 2002.
The Sagehens shot 56.3 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from three-point territory to post a minimum of 20 points in each quarter. Carly Leong PZ ’22 tied her career high to lead the Sagehens with 26 points while classmate Amara Chidom PZ ’22 nabbed a team-leading seven rebounds.
The win was P-P’s second over the Panthers this season, marking their first season series sweep over Chapman since the school joined the SCIAC in 2011. The Sagehens return to competition this Saturday to host Cal Lutheran on Senior Day.
