RECAP: Athenas water polo goes 0-4 against DI competition, drops 1st SCIAC matchup

The CMS women’s water polo (2-8, 0-1 SCIAC) team suffered four losses last weekend while hosting the annual Claremont Convergence tournament. The Athenas played only Division I opponents, dropping games on March 1 to Loyola Marymount and Sonoma State 14-15 and 6-5, respectively. They fell 10-8 to Cal State Monterey Bay and 9-3 to Azusa Pacific the following day.

Wednesday, the team lost its first SCIAC matchup against Cal Lutheran 11-4. Celia Alredete CM ’20 led the Athenas with two goals in the effort, while Chandlyr Denaro CM ’20 and Emma Choy CM ’19 added one score apiece.
