Student-Trustee Retreat: Let’s Talk (but not that much)
_x000D_
Before this week’s ASPC Senate meeting got into full swing, President Sarah Appelbaum PO ’13 brought up the upcoming annual Student-Trustee Retreat, which will be held Friday, Oct. 4, in Hahn 101 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Apart from covering logistics, Appelbaum also took a moment to recruit student break-out discussion leaders for the retreat because when it comes to trustees, Appelbaum said, “They like to talk a lot.” Naturally, Vice President for Campus Activities Joseph Reynolds PO ’15 eagerly jumped on board to be a discussion leader, which is great because if he’s known for anything, it’s “not talking a lot.”

I Can Haz Wheelz?
_x000D_
The up-and-coming car-sharing company Wheelz came to visit the Senate last week, bringing with them exciting details about the program’s 5C development along with their excellent spelling skillz. The idea behind Wheelz is pretty straightforward: Students register their cars with Wheelz and establish an hourly rate for which they want to rent their car out to other students. Unlike ZipCar, potential renters are not required to pay a fee along with the hourly rate, but they must provide a driver’s license and basic information. As for car owners, their vehicles must meet certain quality-control requirements, and if they do, Wheelz installs a “drive box” that allows users to unlock the car with a member card instead of keys (much like ZipCars). The drive box also contains a GPS to track lost or stolen cars. There was more to the business idea than met the eye, however. After the Wheelz representatives left, Head Conspiracy Theorist and ASPC President Sarah Appelbaum speculated, “Maybe Wheelz are just government operatives trying to put GPS’s in all of our cars.” Well, of course they are. Why else would they be so ridiculously good-looking, charming and cool? IT’S A TRAP*!

No Such Thing as a Free Snack
_x000D_
After a week of students complaining that they weren’t getting good enough free food, the ASPC Senate decided to tackle the most difficult issue that they will face this year: Snack. Commissioner of Clubs and Sports Emma Wolfarth PO ’14 explained that Rishi Sangani PO ’14 had coordinated a meeting with the Office of Campus Life, Student Affairs, Dining Services and concerned students to discuss changes made to Snack this year. Senators shared the limited information that they knew about the cause of the changes—and all that included was that it is a financial issue and has nothing to do with sustainability, in contrast to rumors that have been spreading around campus. The sustainability rumors seemed to frustrate Commissioner of Environmental Affairs Lena Connor PO ’13, who defined the conflict and source of the rumors as “bros versus ‘green’ people.” The entire Claremont Lacrosse team was unavailable to comment on Connor’s statement.
