The Claremont Chamber Choir performed at Claremont McKenna College’s Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum Dec. 2 as part of the Athenaeum’s annual holiday celebration. Open to faculty, staff, students and family members, the event featured a special holiday dinner. The night’s program included works by Gregorio Allegri, Bob Chilcott, Per Norgard, Arvo Part, John Tavener and many holiday favorites. Conducted by Associate Professor of Music Charles W. Kamm, the Choir is comprised of 20 voices from the Joint Music Program of Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer and Scripps Colleges. “It’s always fun to be up on stage and singing really beautiful music, but the performance at the Ath was great because the audience was really encouraging and seemed to really enjoy our set,” vocalist Abigail Datum SC ’17 said. “The Ath was also decorated very festively, which added to the performance.” In addition to the performance and dinner, organizers collected toys for the Center for Community Engagement’s holiday toy drive.
