A home in many languages: Remembering Oldenborg

The destruction of the Oldenborg Center for Modern Languages and International Relations, a language house and dining hall where students practice foreign languages, is set to begin in May. Following its demolition, Pomona College has a $125 million plan to build a newer version of Oldenborg: the Center for Global Engagement (CGE).

Pitzer’s Kohoutek: Live music in a digital age

Pitzer College’s Kohoutek Music & Arts Festival, an annual student-led tradition, returned on Saturday, March 28, from 3 p.m. until 1 a.m. the next day on Brant Field & Clock Tower Lawn.
The four student bands who took the stage were The G Strings, Coast, Stuck in a Jam and Noah’s Ark. Other non-student artists were Peter Harper, HAILE, Lottie’s Asha Imuno, Automatic and Ed Axel.

Acoustic Open Mic Night showcases the raw talent of student poets and singers

On Nov. 11, students gathered at the Coop Fountain for Acoustic Open Mic Night, an event co-hosted by 5C Pens & Poetry Club and the Pomona Student Union. Many students took to the stage to showcase their original music and poetry centered around their personal experiences and social issues.

Haunted Tiny Patio Concert: The Hive’s celebration of student creativity

The Haunted Tiny Patio Concert transformed the Hive into a Halloween haven last Friday, Oct. 24 — the second Hive fall concert this semester. A large Scream-themed Haunted Tiny Patio poster hung on the wall, framed by bat and pumpkin garlands, while an elaborate spread of Halloween-themed food and drinks greeted attendees. The concert invited student musicians to share their work in a warm, welcoming space — cheered on by friends and familiar faces. Reese Roseback PO ’25 and Salina Munoz CM ’23 run the series as part of their Experience Designer roles at the Hive.

Diwali celebration brings Bollywood dance hits to Pomona’s Edmunds Ballroom

On Sunday, Oct. 19, weeks of planning by Tamasha (the Bollywood Dance Team) and the Hindu Society culminated in a vibrant Diwali celebration. Taking place in Edmund’s Ballroom, over 200 attendees applied temporary mehendi tattoos, enjoyed a catered buffet, watched dance performances and more.
