The claws of the Leopards were no match for the Athenas’ armor, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) women’s water polo showcased their impenetrable defense against La Verne in a decisive 17-5 victory on Wednesday, April 3 at Axelrood Pool. The Athenas are ranked second in the SCIAC, chasing their Sagehen rivals for the conference title as the regular season draws to a close.

P-P lacrosse brings the ‘Henergy’ in rainy rivalry rout of CMS
The Henergy was high at Zinda field on Saturday, March 2 as Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) women’s lacrosse took the sixth street rivalry match over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) 15-10, earning their first goal in 30 seconds thanks to Fiona Lewis PO ‘25.
Girls in Lifting and Fitness makes a safe space for women and gender nonconforming people out of the masculine wasteland of the gym
Say goodbye to intimidating gym bros and cardio-only workouts (unless you’re into that). Girls in Lifting and Fitness (GILFs) holds four weekly sessions for 5C women and gender nonconforming students to experience the positive side of exercise without the too-often seen negatives.
“Our main focus is kind of demystifying the gym as this space for men and masculine figures,” Sam Machin PO ’24 said. “And so we really just want to work on making the gym less intimidating, having more information about what each machine does, proper form and what that looks like, and how to work as a group.”
Sagehens baseball give Whitman Blues the weepies in 2-1 series whopping
P-P men’s baseball beat down the Whitman Blues with a 2-1 game count, closing up the last series of the Hen’s preseason. The Sagehens relied on hot bats in the first two games, earning a cumulative 13 runs in the first game combined with a pair of shutouts but faltered in the final game of the series.
Underclassmen sharp shooters come alive in second half as Sagehens take the Sixth Street crown
In their last home game of the season the Sagehens displayed their three-point shooting and flapped their way to the top of the scoreboard to bring home the sixth street trophy on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Voelkel Gym with a final score of 67-54.
Athenas can’t make it to home plate in home opener loss to Hope International
The Athenas were without their wits during their 4-0 loss against Hope International on Saturday, Feb. 3 as they struggled to get on base. Despite a disappointing result in their home opener the team, led by returning head coach Betsy Hipple, kept the energy up and sees a brighter future in the season ahead.
