The Pomona-Pitzer volleyball team’s 2015 season came to an unfortunate end on Saturday, Oct. 31 as the Sagehens (12-14, 7-9 SCIAC) fell to league leader California Lutheran University (25-4, 14-2 SCIAC) in straight sets. The Hens finished fifth place in SCIAC, just one spot out of playoff contention.

Outside hitter Stephanie Sun PO ’17 and libero Michelle Schultz PO ’16 earned second-team All-SCIAC honors. Sun finished third in SCIAC with 3.52 kills per set and sixth in kills with 289. Schultz capped off her impressive career ranked first in SCIAC with 5.65 digs per set, and is now sixth in P-P history with 1511 digs.

Setter Jessica Finn PO ’18 and middle hitter Sarah Gamble PO ’17 both contributed to the success of the Sagehens season as Finn finished second in the league with 9.54 assists per set and Gamble ranked eighth in SCIAC with 0.8 blocks per set.

With strong underclassmen in outside hitters Sophie Janssen PO ’19 and Julia Zwaal PZ ’19, and opposite hitter Kate Porter PO ’18, the Hens and their returning cast are sure to be top SCIAC contenders next season.
