P-P Women’s Soccer Stays Hot, Shuts Down La Verne

The Pomona-Pitzer women’s soccer team defeated La Verne 4-0 on Saturday night. The Sagehens scored four goals in the first half to win their fourth straight game. Two minutes into the game, Samantha Thompson PO ’15 put P-P on the scoreboard. Seven minutes later, defender Claire Mueller PO ’13 scored from a first touch shot 25 yards out. Traci Lopez PZ ’12 scored her fourth goal of the season 16 minutes into the game to make it 3-0. In the 38th minute, Allie Tao PO ’14 carried the ball up the left side and crossed it into the box. After gathering a deflection off a La Verne defender, Amanda Coba PO ’15 finished for the Saghens’ fourth goal. Keeper Emma Wolfarth PO ’14 put up two saves in the first half, and Jana London PZ ’14 had another in the second half.

Pomona-Pitzer’s win over La Verne puts the team at 2-0 in SCIAC and 4-1 overall.
