Late Goals Lift Pomona-Pitzer over La Verne in Dramatic Fashion for First SCIAC Win

After 87 minutes of a 0-0 deadlock with La Verne, Nate Shekita PO ’15 and Danny Nasry PO ’13 each assisted the other for two goals in as many minutes. Shekita finished Nasry’s slotted pass in the 88th minute to give P-P their first goal of the SCIAC season. Two minutes later, Shekita split La Verne’s midfield to find Nasry, who twisted La Verne’s defense before beating freshman goalkeeper Richard Duran from outside the penalty area to put a cap on the win. Pomona-Pitzer also earned their first SCIAC clean sheet with strong performances from Pomona freshman centerbacks Mark Raftery and Geordie Marriner. Pomona-Pitzer faces cross-college rivals CMS this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Claremont McKenna for what should be a very competitive game.
