RECAP: Sagehen men’s tennis drops close match to Mary Washington, 5-4

The Sagehen men’s tennis team (4-5, 3-0 SCIAC) fell 5-4 to the University of Mary Washington (5-3) March 8 in a hotly contested match. After the two teams split two and three doubles, the No. 1 match went down to the wire, but Octave Bellet de Giacomoni PZ ’19 and Josh Gearou PO ’19 were unable to hold on, losing 8-7 (5).

Jed Kronenberg PO ’21 and Gerou won their singles matches at one and two easily, and Sam Gerou PO ’19 earned the win at No. 4 in a wild match, coming back from a 6-1 loss in the first set to win the next two 7-6 (5) and 7-6 (6). However, despite close scores, the Sagehens were unable to find a win in the other three singles matches.
