RECAP: CMS women’s water polo defeats Chapman, falls to Cal Lu in final minute

Amelia Ayala CM ’21 scored five goals, including four in the final quarter, to lead the Athena water polo team (6-12, 4-4 SCIAC) to a 10-9 comeback victory over Chapman last Saturday. The team then fell to Cal Lutheran 7-6 Wednesday.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps trailed by three going into the fourth quarter of the Chapman game, but scored five unanswered to go up 10-8 with 1:08 to go. Against Cal Lutheran, CMS led by one with five minutes to go, but the Regals scored twice in the final 70 seconds to steal the win.
