The Claremont Police Department deployed pedestrian enforcement details to catch motorists who do not yield to pedestrians at crosswalks on Sept. 29. One deployment was on Pomona College’s campus at College Avenue and 4th Street.
According to CPD Traffic Supervisor Lt. Jason Walters, eight of the 195 vehicles that passed through the intersection during the operation failed to stop and were cited.
So far this year, Claremont has had seven pedestrian-related collisions. The city had 17 such collisions in 2016.
Walters anticipated “having another deployment in the upcoming months.”
