On Election Day—Tuesday, Nov. 8—5C students voted and attended evening watch parties. Many expected Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton would be victorious. As the night wore on, however, Republican nominee Donald Trump pulled out a surprising victory, smashing the Democratic firewall in Midwest states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Afterwards, Clinton supporters despaired and protested, while Trump supporters celebrated in anticipation of the President-elect. Watch the video to see students explain why they voted for their candidate and how they reacted after the election.
