Statements for Justice

_x000D_

Given the recent developments in the Workers for Justice (WFJ) situation (FMI: go read every issue of TSL ever) and the administration’s response to the WFJ request from two weeks ago, the ASPC Senate decided last week that they wanted to get involved, and the best way to do that was … to release a statement. North Campus Representative Tracy Zhao PO ’13 stepped up to draft the statement and the Senate agreed to vote electronically to approve and release it. Hopefully, the statement will not only encourage the administration to rehire workers who qualify for work authorization, but also convince the Pomona College community that the Senate has no idea that something like that already happened last week (and that all senators should go read every issue of TSL ever).

Green from Greens

Last week the Senate discussed the logistics for its Plant Sale, which took place Oct. 10 and 11. The main purpose of the sale was to raise revenue for ASPC shirts, which, as you probably don’t remember (because no one has ever read every issue of TSL ever), was a promotional idea from Vice President for Campus Activities Joseph Reynolds PO ’15 earlier in the year. Anyway, the sale went fine and students bought plants for their rooms. Wow, this story is almost as boring as a plant sale.

Irony Sucks

On a relatively unimportant note, Commissioner of Communications Darrell Jones III PO ’14 spent most of the meeting examining a copy of The Metate, Pomona’s yearbook. When asked after the meeting why he was so engaged, he simply responded, “I love yearbooks.” Too bad ASPC voted to cut all funding to The Metate, which you would know all about if you read every issue of TSL ever (or just last week’s).
