Woman Killed at Claremont Metrolink

On Wednesday at about 3:10 p.m., a 79-year-old Claremont female resident was struck by a Metrolink train at the Indian Hill Boulevard crossing, where she died on the scene from her injuries.The train was headed eastbound from Los Angeles Union Station to its final destination in San Bernardino.The speed of the train upon impact has not yet been determined, according to Sergeant Aaron Fate of the Claremont Police Department. It is also unclear whether this was an act of suicide or an accident.According to The Inland Daily Bulletin, Metrolink public information officer Angie Starr said the Los Angeles County sheriff’s coroner was on scene. She also said there were no reported injuries on the Metrolink train or to the crews.According to Fate, these incidents are rare.“I’ve been here for over ten years, and there’s only been a handful of times,” Fate said.
