Without a Box, But Not Without a Good Show

Without a Box, the 5Cs’ improvisational and experimental theater group, had their first show of the year last Friday, Sept. 14 in Pitzer College’s Benson Auditorium. The group currently consists of five members: Jonah Breslau PO ’14, Joseph Ocon PO ’14, Joseph Reynolds PO ’15, Noah Weingarten PO ’14 and producer Rachel Weiner SC ’13.

Reynolds said that he thought “the energy” was the best thing about Friday’s show.

“I think it was a good vibe for a group of four people,” he said. “It kept it pretty active the whole hour and a half,” a feat particularly impressive considering that Without a Box used to be a group of eight.

They hope to add new members, though, after this weekend’s auditions.

“Because everyone is so young, I think it’s a good time for change and exploration, so I [think] a lot of the things we’re going to do won’t be completely new but it’s definitely going to help make us more accessible to the school,” Weiner said. “It’s going to be a reformed Without a Box experience.”
