The Claremont Colleges rugby team, the Lions, has gotten off to a flying start, taking home wins in the Bowl Championship and the Chula Vista West Coast 7s Rugby Tournament. As they move into the spring season, their aim is to push for a national championship.

Claremont men’s club soccer is the Pear-fect place to find success and unity on the pitch
It’s going pear-fectly! The self-dubbed “Pears,” the Claremont Colleges Men’s Soccer Club, have had a strong start to the season, winning one game and drawing the other against tough opposition. Currently sitting third place in their division, the “Pears” are seeking to win the league, something which would grant them automatic access to the Aztec Cup.
Second time’s the charm: Braineaters look to return to national tournament
After a top 20 finish at nationals in 2024, the Claremont Braineaters — the ultimate frisbee team of the Claremont Colleges — are ready for revenge. They hope to make it to the tournament even stronger this year, led by captains Tanveer Chabba CM ’26, Emmett Levine PO ’27, Noah Pershing PZ ‘27 and Isamu Sims PZ ‘27.

What do surfing, the circus and rock climbing have in common? Each of these activities has a club at the 5Cs. These clubs and many more assembled on Walker Beach Wednesday, Sept. 4 to pitch their clubs to new members.
‘Rugby is a hot girl sport’ — Caroline Bullock CM ’24 and her journey with the Claremont Foxes
Caroline Bullock CM ‘24, member of the Division I Claremont Foxes rugby team, traveled to the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center on March 24 to compete against the Canadian developmental sevens team in a five game series. Bullock only began playing rugby in college, when she signed up at the club fair.
5C ski and board marks historic wins at UCSA Nationals, years of success on the horizon
Through sludge, injuries and rainy days 5C ski and board club found the podium in two events at the U.S Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championships in Lake Placid, New York the week of March 4. Women’s freeski, anchored by a strong core of three first years, locked down gold while women’s freestyle snowboard took bronze, rising above varsity teams across the country.
Sly Foxes outmaneuver Occidental women’s rugby, earning a 30 – 10 victory and sweet revenge
The Claremont Foxes women’s rugby team proved that size isn’t everything as they took down the Occidental Tigers 30-10 on Saturday, March 2. Scrappy as they come, the foxes faced the pouring rain and avenged their November loss to the Tigers.
Cue the magic 8-ball: 5C Billiard Club hosts ‘Heartbreak Tournament’ at Pomona College
Cue the drama — on Sunday, March 3, the 5C Billiard Club hosted its Valentine’s Day-themed “Heartbreak Tournament” in Pomona College’s Walker Lounge. The room was filled with music, tension and the smell of Cane’s as the club worked to create a fun tournament environment.
Girls in Lifting and Fitness makes a safe space for women and gender nonconforming people out of the masculine wasteland of the gym
Say goodbye to intimidating gym bros and cardio-only workouts (unless you’re into that). Girls in Lifting and Fitness (GILFs) holds four weekly sessions for 5C women and gender nonconforming students to experience the positive side of exercise without the too-often seen negatives.
“Our main focus is kind of demystifying the gym as this space for men and masculine figures,” Sam Machin PO ’24 said. “And so we really just want to work on making the gym less intimidating, having more information about what each machine does, proper form and what that looks like, and how to work as a group.”
5C Ski and Snowboard Team provides slope side home for skiers of all levels
From bunny hills to double black diamonds, the 5C Ski and Snowboard team welcomes all levels of experience on the slopes. The team, almost double the size it was last year with many new members, is sending 23 athletes to the National Championships the first week of March in Lake Placid, New York.
