On Nov. 11, students gathered at the Coop Fountain for Acoustic Open Mic Night, an event co-hosted by 5C Pens & Poetry Club and the Pomona Student Union. Many students took to the stage to showcase their original music and poetry centered around their personal experiences and social issues.

Pitzer Connect debuts as Pitzer’s first ever tech club
This semester, Pitzer Connect made history by becoming Pitzer’s first technology club with the mission of bringing together everyone interested in tech, regardless of experience. At their first event on Nov. 7, the executive team explained the process behind majoring in data science and computer science at the other 5C campuses, since Pitzer does not offer those programs.
Betty Who? “Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties” showcases the complexity of femininity and identity
From the night of Halloween, Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, “Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties” ran for a total of three shows at the Large Studio of Pomona College’s Seaver Theatre Complex. The production follows the titular Bettys — five different women who share the same name, but couldn’t be more different from each other — as they navigate the challenges of womanhood and figuring out who they are.
Neurodiverse Pitzer alum Joshua Corwin flips the script on the adversity he’s faced
On Wednesday, Oct. 22, the Pitzer College Career Services and the Chronically Ill and Disabled Student Alliance (CIDSA) hosted one of their alumni, Joshua Corwin PZ ’19, for a talk about his experiences of being neurodiverse in the workplace. Corwin shared his story about the challenges he faced navigating through life with autism. However, his spirits remained high as he shared how, despite the setbacks he faced as a result of his disability, he felt that they were ultimately beneficial to him in the long run.
5C Spikeball Club makes its debut to foster community through the sport of roundnet
Every Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m., you can find a group of Pomona juniors setting up a spikeball net at Walker Beach to bring together new and seasoned players for their 5C Spikeball Club meeting. Founded by Gavin Doig PO ’27, Fox Kloske PO ’27, Matthew Lewis PO ’27 and Jalen DeLoney PO ’27, the four are launching a mission to bring a structured club surrounded by a passion for spikeball and a warm community.
Slasher-comedy “Hookman” turns the genre on its head with its portrayal of grief
From Thursday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 5, “Hookman” drew crowds at Pomona College’s Allen Theatre. Following the story of Lexi, a college freshman who must come to terms with the death of her high school best friend Jess — while also being haunted by the titular Hookman.
The natural reaction to human activity depicted by Anne Covell
On Sept. 29, book artist Anne Covell presented “Artist’s Books and Environment: How Humans Shape the Natural World” at Scripps College’s Fall 2025 Frederic W. Goudy Lecture. Throughout her talk, Covell showcased various pieces of her artwork that depict the effect of human activity on the environment. Her works depict topics such as deforestation in the U.S.-Canadian border and what the state of Florida could look like if sea levels rise.
Women Who Submit: A community for aspiring women and non-binary writers

‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’ delivers a spellbinding performance
From April 10 to April 13, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” premiered at Pomona College’s Seaver Theatre. Based on the Broadway production of the same name, the musical tells the hilarious yet heartfelt stories of six quirky contestants who enter the titular spelling competition where only one can emerge victorious.
