Alex Johann PO ’14
Palo Alto, Calif.
Men’s Cross Country
With two runners already across the finish line in the top 10, the Sagehens ranked pretty high as team last Saturday, Nov. 16, at the NCAA West Regional meet, but they knew they needed one more solid run to beat their rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and finish first in the region. That’s where Alex Johann PO ’14 came in. Beating out two CMS runners in the final 200 meters with a tremendous final kick, Johann finished 14th and made a vital contribution to the Sagehens’ first-place overall finish. Throughout the year Johann has battled asthma, but he pulled together his best race of the season to date, finishing with a final time of 25:51.05. Johann and his teammates will compete in the NCAA Division III National Championship tomorrow in Hanover, Ind.
