To the Editor:
We, the Indigenous Student Alliance, aim to inspire a critical consciousness among the 5C community about indigenous experiences and issues both historical and contemporary. We do not believe the previous incident regarding the potential Thursday Night Club theme was an isolated incident; rather, it is part of a larger local and global cycle of historic oppression and the perpetuation of racial myths. Regardless of intent, we advocate for the eradication of negative stereotyping at our higher institutions of learning. We invite an open discourse on relevant issues that impact the well-being of the entire community. We look forward to that dialogue at the 5Cs.
