SAS Briefs

A joint meeting of the Scripps Associated Students (SAS) Executive Board and Programming Board was held Nov. 24. Senate President Marta Bean SC ’14 continued to shower the class of 2017 with praise as SAS recognized First-Year Representative Anna Cechony SC ’17 for hosting a very successful event. Bean noted that the Secret Buddy gift exchange week “went above and beyond,” with more than 80 enthusiastic students participating. Max Greenberg SC ’14 said that the first of the “Cook with Malott” series was met with reasonable success (although perhaps a wine pairing would draw in more traffic).

In more joint meeting news, the holiday party being hosted by Scripps and Claremont McKenna College Dec. 7 has been named Mistletoe Rock and will take place in a tent in North Quad. Secretary Molly Fassler SC ’14 reported on an anti-racist training session that she attended and suggested that all of SAS undergo some type of anti-racist training in order to learn more about intersectionality. Diversity Chair Emily Areta SC ’14 also discussed efforts to bring Indian-American comedian Hari Kondabolu to perform next semester.
