Scripps College is anticipating housing shortages next year after receiving record numbers of study abroad applications for the fall semester, leaving many Scripps students concerned about spring semester dorm availability.Scripps’ office of Study Abroad and Global Education (SAGE) sent a notice on Feb. 24 to students planning to go abroad in the fall, encouraging them to consider going abroad in the spring due to potential issues.Though SAGE said they will not require students to change semesters, they strongly encourage students to reconsider.

CGU announces “AI for Humanity” partnership with tech company, Macnica
On Feb. 3, Claremont Graduate University signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to formalize a partnership with Japanese artificial intelligence company Macnica, aiming to expand research about human-centered, ethical approaches to AI while increasing professional opportunities for students.
They aim to develop an AI tool that would use data from class assignments to generate digital badges for students to show to potential employers.
Shift to digital ordering at The Hub raises community concern
Longtime campus eatery and Claremont McKenna College fixture The Hub installed two self-service kiosks and a mobile ordering system this semester, aiming to speed up service and reduce congestion. Some student customers and Hub employees, however, said the change has already begun to reshape how they interact with one another.
