Behind the scenes at Scripps Dances 2025

Culminating a year of collaboration, the Scripps College Dance Department held its annual showcase at Garrison Theatre over the weekend of April 11. Performing numbers choreographed by students, visiting artists and Scripps College faculty alike, the dancers captivated the audience with exciting, emotional and powerful pieces celebrating themes of identity, community and joy.

Exploring a mother and daughter’s relationship through the role of calendars in day-to-day life, April Katz’s “Marking Time” deals with themes of loss, grief and the passage of time. The exhibit opened at Scripps College’s Clark Humanities Museum on Feb. 6.
