The Pomona-Pitzer women’s water polo team (18-10, 13-0 SCIAC) clinched the regular-season SCIAC title for the second year in a row Wednesday night with a blowout 18-1 victory over winless Caltech (0-22, 0-14 SCIAC).

The Sagehens got off to a fast start and didn’t let up throughout the entire game. They led 11-1 at the half, and never let the Beavers back into it.

P-P was led by Crystal Huang PO ’20, who tallied six goals while adding an assist and a steal. Five of her six goals came in a stretch where Huang scored five straight times midway through the second half, which put Caltech away single-handedly.

This is the second straight year the Saghens have taken the regular season SCIAC title. This time, they also hope to do what they couldn’t do in 2017 — go undefeated in the conference.

They will have a chance to secure that undefeated record Saturday, when they take on Chapman University (10-16, 6-7 SCIAC) at home in their last regular season game.
