Recap: Miles President drops 25 points as CMS men’s basketball falls to Whittier

Despite getting a career-high 25 points from Miles President HM ’21 in 36 minutes of play, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team (14-6, 8-3 SCIAC) dropped an away SCIAC game 76-73 to Whittier on Saturday.

Nicolas Segura Dobjanschi CM ’19 led the team with nine rebounds, also scoring 14 points, and Mitchell Kirsch CM ’21 tallied a team-leading six assists. Coming off the bench, JD Levine CM ’20 racked up 13 points in just 11 minutes of play.

The Stags shot 45.8 percent from the field and made nine of 15 attempts from the free throw line; the Poets shot 41 percent from the field but made 14 of 17 free throw attempts and scored 19 points off CMS’ 21 turnovers. CMS led by three with ten minutes to go but was unable to withstand a late-game Whittier surge.

CMS returns home to host Caltech Saturday.
