This week in Senate was mainly dealing with announcements. Orientation Committee has chosen the Class of 2020 first year book, which will be Citizen by Claudia Rankine. Also, there will be a Senior Rummage Sale event which will most likely have lots of food and items for returning students to sift through and purchase. Student awards are in the process of being selected along with Wig awards, which can really help faculty to pursue an area of interest and be recognized for their achievements. Wig awards may only be voted on by current juniors and seniors. Committee selections have been made and the new appointed members of various Senate sub-committees will be notified of their acceptance soon.

Scripps Associated Students (SAS)

At the Apr. 24 meeting, Scripps Associated Students discussed Pirate Party, including the distribution of wristbands on Friday and Saturday. It was also reiterated that CMC requests no pregames on North Quad.

In financial requests, ASCMC was approved $1,000 for Pirate Party.

Among various updates, the Math Spot/Tutoring program will be relocated to Student Union, while thought was given to the reformatting BeHeard forums and reconsidering the role of the senate.

A meeting with a Mudd dean and students is planned to discuss a 5C mental wellness resource survey.

Hoverboards are prohibited at Scripps.

Associated Students of Harvey Mudd College (ASHMC)

Also on Apr. 24, ASHMC began their meeting by discussing the need to develop procedure for funding for religious or political clubs, such as 3CIV. Larger discussion was had on whether 3CIV should lose funding because of a sexuality clause in their leadership, versus whether the local chapter will actually adhere to the clause and thus not discriminate. A motion to give 3CIV $0 passed.
