Pitzer Senate VP of External Affairs steps down
Dexter Lin PZ ’20, Pitzer student senate vice president of external affairs, stepped down from his position Sept. 29, according to Pitzer Senate President Clint Isom PZ ’20.
Lin said his decision was “personal” and unrelated to current Pitzer Senate operations. The vice president of external affairs is responsible for managing Pitzer Senate’s interactions with the college at large and ensuring it’s a “vigorous participant in the shared governance process,” according to the Pitzer Senate website.
Isom and other executive board members will temporarily take over Lin’s responsibilities, Isom said.
Students interested in the position can submit applications to Pitzer Senate. The executive board will nominate a candidate to be confirmed by the Senate, Isom said.

Scripps to join HMC, CMC and Pitzer in implementing cybersecurity measures
Scripps College will be implementing two-factor authentication for students logging into their school accounts through a computer security service called DUO on Oct. 10, joining Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College and Pitzer College.
Scripps students will need to download the DUO mobile app to enroll their device, according to an email sent to Scripps students Oct. 3.
Two-factor authentication increases cybersecurity by requiring a form of credentials in addition to a password when signing in to the colleges’ online systems, such as accepting a notification through the DUO smartphone app, picking up a phone call or entering a passcode, TSL previously reported.
All systems that require logging in through the Central Authentication System — such as the Scripps student portal, Sakai, Handshake, Workday, library databases, Box and Kronos — will require two-factor authentication the week after Oct. 10, according to the email.
