The Stags football’s SCIAC opener Saturday afternoon proved a gut-wrenching 20-17 loss to La Verne on the road. Things were looking hopeful for CMS (2-2, 0-1 SCIAC) as they had possession of the ball first in the overtime session and were able to gain three yards in three plays as opposed to La Verne’s two. But after a time-out, La Verne caught a 23-yard touchdown pass on 4th-and-8.
